EF2 March Update 2: Writing Is Happening!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the second March update, or the only March update if you’re on Kickstarter. This month, I was able to make a good bit of progress! Not a ridiculously powerful burst of productivity or anything, I’m still struggling to get my body on the same page as my brain, but the rest I’ve been able to take this month has also been helpful. I’m feeling more prepared to handle the next busy stretch and to continue creating for EF2 in the meantime.

So, over the past few weeks- How have I done with those goals?

  • Do some housekeeping tasks: Done!

  • Write at least 5 more conversations: Done!

The housekeeping tasks I was able to get done include improving the conversation outline status and making some important layout changes to the Entropic Float discord server, as I realized it was still reflecting a pre-release status quo in some areas! I had been adding things where needed, without going back and removing things that were no longer relevant. Now it’s all cleaned up! Moving on…

Here’s a conversation progress bar! I’ve been doing well with these lately. This number may appear to represent a small fraction of the total, but a good portion are conversations which can wait until after the early beta test is available- We’re getting quite close to the amount that would be needed to consider the earlygame playable. So, what about the goals for the next portion? Before my next update on 4/12, I’d like to:

  • Write another 5 conversations

  • Finish the assets for another character zone

  • Implement a character zone

It’s true that I actually did write 10+ conversations over the last development period, but since I’ve gotten in the groove with them, I’m interested in continuing to work on more! Then, the character zone objectives- I’m hoping to draw the assets for Munya’s first zone, and to implement the assets for Greta’s first. Unlike most other characters, the assets for Greta’s are already digitized, so I can get the hang of the implementation without attacking the digitization step along the way this time. Tackling one new task at a time!

As for the following update on 4/25, those goals will be…

  • Digitize a character zone (not necessarily implement)

  • Write an additional 5 conversations

  • Finish some previously sketched CGs

Something new, something regular, and something that past me already got started on! And of course, should I finish the first batch for the month, I’ll jump right into the next- Though that seems unlikely, with Anime Boston coming up during this development cycle. I didn’t make it through the lottery to get a table, but I’ll still be attending all weekend!

So, that’s what I’ve got for now. Thank you, as always, for reading! See you next time, and I’ll leave you with this artfight of Rashmi and Amelie by UnluckError404 ~

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #12

Time for Update Twelve. The art this week was commissioned from  Niina on skeb! Not the most relevant image this time, since Peri doesn't actually appear in any of the Rashmi routes... But she's adorable, so don't hold it against me, okay? You also shouldn't hold it against me because, for all but the first two days after my previous update, I've had covid. Omicron's infectivity really is off the charts, and I'm a fragile person, so of course I had loads of symptoms. Nothing serious in the end, thanks to my triple vaccine, and my brainfog's cleared up over the past few days, so I still have some progress to share! Writing: 48/54 segments... That's right, despite spending most of my time sick, working from home during moments of clarity and playing video games during moments of utter fog... I actually wrote the entire Rashmi Noon Route. A big chunk of that was immediately following the last update, but I still doubled my goal of three segments... S...

EF2 May Update 2: Farewell For Now!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the 5/31 update, the second May update, the final update before the update hiatus begins! And what have I accomplished since the first May update? Not a whole lot, honestly! Attending a large convention is fun but exhausting (Got a little con plague, too), so almost all of the energy I had left went toward working on commissions from etsy. No part of the Kickstarter budget included wages for my time working on the game, so unfortunately, I must still prioritize other work! Even so, ‘not a whole lot’ isn’t the same as ‘nothing at all’! Let’s look at last update’s goals: Finish at least 3 of those Area 4 Backgrounds: This one didn’t happen. All the time I’ve been able to spend at my desk has gone into commissions this period. Sketch some subprimary backgrounds for the areas already done: This one, however, did happen! I sketched all those subprimary backgrounds and even one of the backgrounds for Area 5. The wonders of the sketches being possible anywher...
