EF2 July Update: A Less Than Ideal Summer

Hello everybody! It’s update time again, and the only one I’ll be sharing in July- With Artfight going on, that’s taking up most of my focus. As a reminder, my username over there is Nhitori ! The month of July brings with it a major opportunity to improve my artistic skills and receive relevant art in return- In the first 5 days, I’ve already received this art of Box by Kimekona that I’d like to share! So, how about those goals from last time? Two more character zones (Bea’s that I started earlier, and one more) Implement a zone Implement the voice acting that I have I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to complete any of these. I was able to begin the other zone besides Bea’s that I was aiming for, but again, couldn’t complete it. My regular job continued being busy, to the degree that it’s only just lightened up on me these past few days- at which point Artfight had already begun. I had expected to have a chance to work on zones during Portcon, but there weren’t any periods of time s...

EF2 June Update: Progress In The Face Of Minimal Free Time!

Hello everybody! It has been, frankly, a rough few weeks over here- I tabled at Rhode Island Anime Con, sandwiched right in between two weeks of overtime. When I wrote this period’s list of goals, I was optimistic about what I’d be able to get done when I arrived at yesterday… And as one might imagine, I didn’t exactly have it in me to buckle down and complete tasks at the tail end of all that. I got some household stuff done, and that’s about all I had in me. So, what’s the list looking like? Another character zone: Not done, started on Bea’s a bit but could not get into the flow, and a minor injury at work made it a lot harder to hold the felting needle- don’t worry, all healed now. Digitize at least one zone as well: Done! I actually DID get into the flow on this and digitized two, so that’s one less task for next dev period. Finish all first convos for Jane: Not quite done. All her first convos with other characters are, but there are two more just between her and Ame that ne...

EF2 May Update 2: Passing Halfway Done on First Zone Assets!

Hello everybody! It’s update time~ Some good stuff since the last update, but of course, we’ll lead with the game progress that’s been made! Last time’s goals! One more zone’s assets: Done! Finish the zone assets that I started in the first part of May: Also done! Finish all first convos for Tony: Done! Finish all first convos for Cobalt: Done! Fill in some small writing gaps: Done! I was able to accomplish all the goals that I set for these two weeks- The assets have been made for both Renfield and Syoko’s first zones, all of Tony and Cobalt’s first-conversations are written, and I’ve fixed all the missing introductions and such that I could find! In news not-so-related to the game development, my parents just got a new puppy. As is the requisite pet tax, I’ve included a photo of him in this update~ Moving on- While I might not have a ton to say about this dev period’s progress, it’s definitely substantial! With Tony and Cobalt, two of the characters now have something to say f...

EF2 May Update 1: Falling a Little Short, Let's Make Up For It Later This Month!

Hi everybody- welcome to the first May update, and happy mother’s day! I’d love to accompany this update with some art of Greta, the undisputed best mother of the Entropic Float world thusfar, but artfight is currently undergoing maintenance so I actually can’t go and gather anything you haven’t already seen- oops! So instead, let’s jump right into the goals! Implement that digitized Munya zone: Done! The zone is fully functional~ Digitize another zone, maybe Tony’s?: Done! Tony’s indeed. Make the assets for another zone: Not quite done! With various things going on, I wasn’t able to finish the assets I got started on- this time for Renfield’s zone. I had planned to work on Bea’s first zone (the assets I already completed are for her second, since I had a very clear vision for it!) only to discover that I was actually missing some supplies I needed for it- I thought I had another black felt piece to use as the backdrop, and it turns out I do not. Easy enough to fix, but I didn’t...

EF2 April Update 2: Once More, a Daunting Task is Conquered!

Hi everyone! It’s the second April update~ This time, I’ve got a bit more to say, since I can now sit and type at my computer without worsening eye pain! But even so, let’s jump right in to the past period’s goals: Digitize a character zone (not necessarily implement): Done! I was able to digitize Munya’s first zone. Finish implementing Greta zone: Done, for now! Write an additional 7 conversations: Done! Finish some previously sketched CGs: Done! I had a total of five CGs that had been sketched but not completed, and I ended up being able to finish all five of them~ It turns out that the digitizing process was… A lot easier than I had built it up in my head. I was pretty worried I wouldn’t be able to make it work in a way that made sense, but it turned out just fine- It didn’t take too long, and my approach worked on the first attempt without needing to adjust, so I’m much more confident about the process moving forward! Meanwhile, with Greta’s zone- ‘done for now’ is where I’m ...

EF2 April Update 1: Good Progress, But A Short Update!

Hello everybody! It’s update time! A short one for our mid-month update today because I’m having a bit of a weird eye problem and thus trying to limit my screentime a bit. How’d I do on the list? Write another 5 conversations: Wrote 3.5 more Finish the assets for another character zone: Done! I made the assets for Munya’s zone and got started on another. Implement a character zone: Not done, but started! I did begin the process of implementing a character zone, but then the aforementioned limiting of screentime came into the picture, so I wasn’t able to finish yet- I’ve not encountered any roadblocks in the actual process though, no problems coding it in so far! I instead spent some extra time on making zone assets, since all but two characters have non-digital artstyles for those, so I completed Munya’s and was able to begin on Syoko’s. As for the conversation writing, I just didn’t squeeze out enough time during the weekdays with convention prep and recovery in the mix. I’ll ju...

EF2 March Update 2: Writing Is Happening!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the second March update, or the only March update if you’re on Kickstarter. This month, I was able to make a good bit of progress! Not a ridiculously powerful burst of productivity or anything, I’m still struggling to get my body on the same page as my brain, but the rest I’ve been able to take this month has also been helpful. I’m feeling more prepared to handle the next busy stretch and to continue creating for EF2 in the meantime. So, over the past few weeks- How have I done with those goals? Do some housekeeping tasks: Done! Write at least 5 more conversations: Done! The housekeeping tasks I was able to get done include improving the conversation outline status and making some important layout changes to the Entropic Float discord server, as I realized it was still reflecting a pre-release status quo in some areas! I had been adding things where needed, without going back and removing things that were no longer relevant. Now it’s all cleaned up! Mo...

EF2 March Update 1: Feeling back on track!

Hello all! It’s March, and I’m back, just like I said I would be. This is the first update for the month, and the next will be on 3/29 - Per usual, we’re tabling at CTGamercon on 3/14 and 3/15, so that date will ensure I have a weekend at home to actually work on things before updating again! Something I still didn’t exactly end up getting throughout February- Despite that, how did I do on those goals? Implement that key item I forgot about: Done! The first key item in the game can now be acquired and used. Finish the assets for another character zone: Done! The Bea zone I previewed last time has been completed. Write 8 more conversations: I wrote 5 more… I’m still going to hold off on sharing the next progress bar until it can be a little more satisfying. I just about managed the list! I had planned to do most of the conversation writing in downtime while visiting some friends for a few days, but our schedules ended up lining up well- too well, when it came to that particular pl...

EF2 February Update: Apologies For The Wait!

Hello everybody! So, as you may have noticed… There was no regularly-scheduled devlog on January 25th. The skipping of that update was mentioned at the time on the discord, and on my personal tumblr (though not the official one) and that’s about as much as I could manage that particular weekend. To make a long story short- December is usually slow at my day jobs. January and February are usually not slow, but are primarily occupied by a particular project that I’m skilled at, which leaves me with a comfortable amount of free time. This year, December was busy, and another much more intensive project was scheduled alongside the usual Jan+Feb project. That intensive project really beat me up that week, including an unexpected 13-hour-shift with only a 15 minute break, and just the idea of needing to write and cross-post a devlog across every platform was too much for me, so I had to skip it. Not to get too into the weeds on my personal life, but to put it the most simply, I am ove...

EF2 January Update 1: Area 4 is Implemented!

Hello! It’s January eleventh, which means it’s time for a development check-in! A quick update this time-  Let’s jump right in with a look at the goals for these first eleven days of the year: Finish implementing Area 4 Environments (Backgrounds, objekts, characters): Completed!  Make the assets for a character zone: Partially completed! So- Area 4 is fully functional now, and I also got to implementing the other environments that still needed to be added back into the earlier areas, like the riverbank in Area 1. As for the character zone, I made good progress, just not the exact progress I planned on. I took the time to sit down and determine the actual designs for a number of zones I hadn’t finalized yet. And I got the prep done for several zones (example below!), just didn’t get as far as completing them yet. So hopefully, in my next update, I’ll have two or potentially three asset sets ready~ So, to slightly modify the goals for the next part of the month, what I’ll...

EF2 December Update 2: Happy New Year!

First off- I delayed this update by a couple days so that I could post on New Year’s Eve! Here’s a themed doodle of Bea for the occasion! 2025 has been a chaotic and challenging year, for a whole lot of reasons, so I’m happy to welcome 2026 and hope that it’s a little bit kinder to me and to the development process of Entropic Float 2. I feel it’s promising on that front though! Let’s take a look back at this month’s goals, as much as I was able to fit them around the holidays. Draw characters for the Area 4 backgrounds: This is done! Draw and implement Objekts for Area 4: They’re drawn, and they’re partially implemented! Make the assets for another character zone: I didn’t get to this one, I did a bit too much crafting this month to have the juice left for it, but January should be different~ So, I got a fair bit done! The Objekt implementation is a matter of- They’re implemented for the inventory, but not entirely in the environments, because I failed to remember that none of t...
