EF2 April Update 2: Once More, a Daunting Task is Conquered!

Hi everyone! It’s the second April update~ This time, I’ve got a bit more to say, since I can now sit and type at my computer without worsening eye pain! But even so, let’s jump right in to the past period’s goals:

  • Digitize a character zone (not necessarily implement): Done! I was able to digitize Munya’s first zone.

  • Finish implementing Greta zone: Done, for now!

  • Write an additional 7 conversations: Done!

  • Finish some previously sketched CGs: Done! I had a total of five CGs that had been sketched but not completed, and I ended up being able to finish all five of them~

It turns out that the digitizing process was… A lot easier than I had built it up in my head. I was pretty worried I wouldn’t be able to make it work in a way that made sense, but it turned out just fine- It didn’t take too long, and my approach worked on the first attempt without needing to adjust, so I’m much more confident about the process moving forward!

Meanwhile, with Greta’s zone- ‘done for now’ is where I’m going to leave it. It’s fully functional! There’s one visual-clarity effect that I haven’t been able to figure out just yet, but that’s going on the bottom of the priority list to come back to much later. In short- It’s good, but there’s an optional improvement I may or may not eventually be able to make. For now, I’m just glad it works right!

My next update will be 5/10 - That’s mother’s day, so I do need to account for making my mom’s gift before then too! I’m also tabling at a pride event on 5/2 (For historical reasons, this town holds theirs early to be the first pride festival of the season for the region) and my birthday is 5/4 (If anybody wants to draw an EF character or make an etsy purchase as a birthday gift to me, I wouldn’t complain-) so with all of that in mind, I don’t want to get too ambitious with this list. So…

  • Implement that digitized Munya zone

  • Digitize another zone, maybe Tony’s?

  • Make the assets for another zone

Focusing in on some more zone-related tasks for this development period, just one of each flavor! A reasonable amount for me to take on that represents a fairly large step forward in the development. At this point, all that stands in the way of early testing are some zones and some conversations. We’ve still got quite a ways to go with the game, but the foundations are here~ So, following up on that list, what else will I be working on in the rest of May, before the 5/24 devlog?

  • One more zone’s assets

  • Finish all first convos for Tony

  • Finish all first convos for Cobalt

  • Fill in some small writing gaps (eg. some characters are placed on the map without a full introduction segment written)

Per usual, I’ll be jumping right into the second-half goals if I happen to complete the first-half ones particularly quickly- I’ve got my fingers crossed! While I’m already becoming busier again, I actually got ahead on some things this past month. Spring has sprung, and with it, some extra energy, it seems! I’m hoping to get a lot more done while I can.

I’ll leave you for today with one of the CGs I was able to complete in this development period. Thank you, as always, for reading! See you next time.

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #12

Time for Update Twelve. The art this week was commissioned from  Niina on skeb! Not the most relevant image this time, since Peri doesn't actually appear in any of the Rashmi routes... But she's adorable, so don't hold it against me, okay? You also shouldn't hold it against me because, for all but the first two days after my previous update, I've had covid. Omicron's infectivity really is off the charts, and I'm a fragile person, so of course I had loads of symptoms. Nothing serious in the end, thanks to my triple vaccine, and my brainfog's cleared up over the past few days, so I still have some progress to share! Writing: 48/54 segments... That's right, despite spending most of my time sick, working from home during moments of clarity and playing video games during moments of utter fog... I actually wrote the entire Rashmi Noon Route. A big chunk of that was immediately following the last update, but I still doubled my goal of three segments... S...

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

EF2 May Update 2: Farewell For Now!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the 5/31 update, the second May update, the final update before the update hiatus begins! And what have I accomplished since the first May update? Not a whole lot, honestly! Attending a large convention is fun but exhausting (Got a little con plague, too), so almost all of the energy I had left went toward working on commissions from etsy. No part of the Kickstarter budget included wages for my time working on the game, so unfortunately, I must still prioritize other work! Even so, ‘not a whole lot’ isn’t the same as ‘nothing at all’! Let’s look at last update’s goals: Finish at least 3 of those Area 4 Backgrounds: This one didn’t happen. All the time I’ve been able to spend at my desk has gone into commissions this period. Sketch some subprimary backgrounds for the areas already done: This one, however, did happen! I sketched all those subprimary backgrounds and even one of the backgrounds for Area 5. The wonders of the sketches being possible anywher...
