EF2 March Update 1: Feeling back on track!

Hello all! It’s March, and I’m back, just like I said I would be. This is the first update for the month, and the next will be on 3/29 - Per usual, we’re tabling at CTGamercon on 3/14 and 3/15, so that date will ensure I have a weekend at home to actually work on things before updating again! Something I still didn’t exactly end up getting throughout February- Despite that, how did I do on those goals?

  • Implement that key item I forgot about: Done! The first key item in the game can now be acquired and used.

  • Finish the assets for another character zone: Done! The Bea zone I previewed last time has been completed.

  • Write 8 more conversations: I wrote 5 more… I’m still going to hold off on sharing the next progress bar until it can be a little more satisfying.

I just about managed the list! I had planned to do most of the conversation writing in downtime while visiting some friends for a few days, but our schedules ended up lining up well- too well, when it came to that particular plan! But progress was still made, and so, what’s next?

  • Do some housekeeping tasks

  • Write at least 5 more conversations

A bit boring, perhaps, but I think it’s a good time to just buckle down and work on some good old keyboard work. I do hope to exceed 5 conversations when it comes to writing, but it’s time to work on some more outlining to streamline that process. Keeping track of the topics of each conversation I’ve written so far, so that I don’t start repeating points! A lot of these convos are just for character development purposes, which I didn’t have quite as outlined as those that are plot-important, and it’s starting to hit that point where I’m worried I’ll copy myself if I don’t get on top of tracking it.

My next goals will be for the end of March and start of April- I’ll share those here too, since I’ll be jumping into them if I’m able to get ahead:

  • Write another 5 conversations

  • Finish the assets for another character zone

  • Implement a character zone

Implementing zones is a bit of an intimidating step, but once I can get the ball rolling on that, we’re even closer to being able to run an early playtest for interested Kickstarter backers- The bare minimum to be able to access up through the end of Area 4 would be for three zones to be implemented, but my preference would be for all eleven that can be accessed up to Area 4 to be available for testing, of course.

With that, I’ll leave you for now with this artfight attack of Sharma from paperstudios- It’s an attack from 2024, so I do hope I haven’t shared it here before. If I did, just appreciate it all over again. Thank you, as always, for reading! See you soon.

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #12

Time for Update Twelve. The art this week was commissioned from  Niina on skeb! Not the most relevant image this time, since Peri doesn't actually appear in any of the Rashmi routes... But she's adorable, so don't hold it against me, okay? You also shouldn't hold it against me because, for all but the first two days after my previous update, I've had covid. Omicron's infectivity really is off the charts, and I'm a fragile person, so of course I had loads of symptoms. Nothing serious in the end, thanks to my triple vaccine, and my brainfog's cleared up over the past few days, so I still have some progress to share! Writing: 48/54 segments... That's right, despite spending most of my time sick, working from home during moments of clarity and playing video games during moments of utter fog... I actually wrote the entire Rashmi Noon Route. A big chunk of that was immediately following the last update, but I still doubled my goal of three segments... S...

EF2 May Update 2: Farewell For Now!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the 5/31 update, the second May update, the final update before the update hiatus begins! And what have I accomplished since the first May update? Not a whole lot, honestly! Attending a large convention is fun but exhausting (Got a little con plague, too), so almost all of the energy I had left went toward working on commissions from etsy. No part of the Kickstarter budget included wages for my time working on the game, so unfortunately, I must still prioritize other work! Even so, ‘not a whole lot’ isn’t the same as ‘nothing at all’! Let’s look at last update’s goals: Finish at least 3 of those Area 4 Backgrounds: This one didn’t happen. All the time I’ve been able to spend at my desk has gone into commissions this period. Sketch some subprimary backgrounds for the areas already done: This one, however, did happen! I sketched all those subprimary backgrounds and even one of the backgrounds for Area 5. The wonders of the sketches being possible anywher...
