Entropic Float 2: Land Of The Witch

One year after the resolution of the anomalous clocktower in the Black Rock Desert, Kanatsune Ame is assigned a similarly difficult case. A rural town in the Appalachian Mountains disappeared five years ago- And the Anomaly in its place has only recently signaled its presence by opening an invitation. What will the World Anomaly which stole the town of Pine Creek reveal?

Joining Ame on this mission is a WTF researcher whose daughter was caught up in the invitation, but that's not the only ally that he'll find within the bounds of this strange town. Whether it's the mother of some kids he met last time, or a tax preparer who's willing to ride-or-die at the drop of a hat, he won't need to approach this particularly dangerous Anomaly alone.

And if he does get himself killed, well... Some old friends may just be able to turn back the clock.

Game Details

Entropic Float 2 is currently in actively development, and I'll be sharing any major developments. At the moment, a demo is in progress, to be released alongside the Kickstarter launch on 11/11/23

This game is a Point And Click Adventure created using the Ren'Py Python Engine. It will be Kickstarting funds to start, then releasing on steam and itch at a price point of $15 USD. Kickstarter backers of $15 or more will receive a code for the game, of course, along with a code for EF1's $5 DLC.

Entropic Float 2's gameplay is of a point-and-click adventure with the end goal of discovering all the secrets that the Pine Creek Anomaly holds. Each item has at least two different uses, and by choosing one, you'll be locked out of the other until your next loop. Certain aspects of the game are randomized each time that it loops as well. The intention is to continue solving different puzzles, or the same puzzles in different ways, to discover new information.

Each time the game loops, you may find characters are less trustworthy than they were last time around. You may find the weather is entirely different. You may find items in different places than before. Though time is rewinding, the Anomaly is aware that something's happened, and shuffles the deck on you. It's not possible to learn everything in a single loop. It's a good thing you've got help.

Entropic Float 2 is currently planned to have 4 endings, tentatively called the 'Clueless End', the 'Agent End', the 'True End', and the 'Impossible End'. There is no requirement to get any endings before other ones, but the kinetic novel version will show all of them in that order. If you unlock other endings without first seeing prior endings, you'll have the option to choose to view those endings instead during the final sequence trigger. Clueless, Agent, and True all hinge on the percentage of truths you've discovered, and tell wholly different ends to the story. Impossible can be obtained at any time if certain conditions are met.

The Game's Accessibility Features:
  • Entropic Float 2 is (Unless the Kickstarter goes absurdly well) only partially voiced, but Ren'Py games include an option for the visually impaired to have a TTS voice narrate the game for you. This is the "V" key on the keyboard.
  • The game will naturally encourage configurations which lend themselves to acquiring unseen events.
  • If for any reason you can't or don't want to participate in the point-and-click gameplay, there will be a kinetic novel version on release (not planned to implement in any early betas) which progresses through all endings and required events in a linear order. This is not the intended method to experience the story, but is here for anybody who needs it <3
  • There is a page accessible from the main menu which answers each question from doesthedogdie.com so that those who need it can approach the game fully warned for any sensitive subjects.
  • There will be a spoiler-free text walkthrough linked from the itch page and posted on steam.

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #6

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! Here we have some lovely themed art of Shinji by Tree Dorothy on Skeb ! This update, I have a few pieces of exciting news! The first is unrelated to the game development itself, but I've recently gotten a new job that should give me more opportunity to work on Entropic Float each weekend. The second, much more relevant update is that I've officially partnered with Starfield Gaming , the developer of Heart Fragment ! While we've already been working together for some time now, Entropic Float will now officially be releasing as a Starfield title when the time comes! And if you're looking forward to that day, I'd definitely recommend giving Heart Fragment a shot in the meantime. It's a Psychological Otome Game that, as of the time of writing this update, has two fully completable routes (with more on the way!) and is 50% off of its usual price, only five dollars for quite a bit of content- And the art is prettier than Entrop...

Entropic Float 2 Demo And Kickstarter Launch!

Picture a point-and-click adventure game. Now picture a branching, time-looping ontological mystery visual novel. Entropic Float 2 combines those into its gameplay concept: A point-and-click where you can never solve every puzzle at once. Where you have one key that fits two locks... And the only way to see what's behind the lock you didn't choose is to die, repeat the day, and try something different this time. With only you and your protagonist aware of the loop, seek an answer that earns new information. Through trial and error, solutions and murder... Can you find the way through this new Anomaly? In early 2021, I started working on a project just for fun. Using the character creator and scene assembly tools of Illusion's Koikatsu, paired with the visual novel engine ren'py, I decided to learn to make a VN. A year and a half, over three hundred thousand words, and quite a bit of pocket money later, I released 'Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear...
