About EF1

Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear.

The one thing made certain in the Loop Anomaly that suddenly appeared in Black Rock Desert in 2024- No matter what the individuals trapped inside might try to do, their version of the world will fade away when the clocktower strikes midnight. It's up to you to influence their choices and determine the method through which each loop will disappear.

As you step into the shoes of Kanatsun, Amelie, and Rashmi over the course of nine different timelines, discover the secrets of the characters and the clocktower alike. Push your protagonist into making good choices, and see the loop simply rewind, granting its victims the opportunity to recall the events which transpired... Or dive into poor decisions and watch as Entropy overtakes the loop, leaving you the only one to remember the way the timeline fell apart.

How was this Anomaly formed? Why did these particular people get trapped inside? What is the source of the Entropy, and who is the Enemy? And most of all, how can the Anomaly be escaped?

Morning, Noon, and Night. Kanatsun, Amelie, and Rashmi. Explore the different permutations of this time loop and bear witness to all eighteen endings, and you just might be able to find a path to set free the fourteen individuals trapped inside the Anomalous Clocktower.

Game Details

Entropic Float is available for free on itch.io and steam!

I, Nico H, am the primary developer for Entropic Float, but the game was released in partnership with Starfield Gaming. This partnership was for advice, as well as the logo and trailer. I also couldn't have made EF without all the lovely voice acting volunteers I found and guest artists I commissioned.

This game is a Visual Novel created using the Ren'Py Python Engine, and graphics made utilizing Illusion's Koikatsu, an 18+ game with a robust character creator and posing studio which has been widely repurposed for SFW use. Though Illusion has dissolved, the game will remain completely free. If you wish to financially support me independently of this, a link to my other platforms can be found in this site's navigation.

Entropic Float does not have any unconventional gameplay elements for a visual novel. Although there are puzzles in the story, those puzzles will be solved regardless of player choices. The game will access the player's system time, as well as the choices the player makes, in order to determine routes and endings.

The puzzles in the Miracle Route unlocked after getting each ending are tied to the voice lines as selected from the profiles page. The walkthrough includes all of these solutions in the event that a player is hard of hearing or has any other reason not to hear the game's voiced lines.

Entropic Float has Nine Regular Routes and One True Route. Each regular route has two different endings based on player choice. After finding all eighteen regular endings, the player will unlock the true route.

The Game's Accessibility Features:
  • Entropic Float is only partially voiced, but Ren'Py games include an option for the visually impaired to have a TTS voice narrate the game for you. This is the "V" key on the keyboard.
  • After unlocking any four endings, the player will be permitted to manually set the in-game time rather than have their system time used. There are six endings accessible in any one timeslot, so this should be easy enough.
  • After unlocking the first ending on a route, the player has three options. They can return to the beginning of the game, to the beginning of the route, or jump immediately to the branching point for that route's other ending. I recommend returning to the beginning of the route, as I put a lot of effort into the results of each choice, but I understand if players are short on time.
  • There is a page accessible from the main menu which answers each question from doesthedogdie.com so that those who need it can approach the game fully warned for any sensitive subjects.
  • There is a spoiler-free text walkthrough linked from the itch page and posted on steam.

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float in 2023: An Update!

Happy New Year, everybody!                                                                     It's 2023  and I have a lot of plans! I'll start out by offering reminders that there's a survey to influence the contents of the Entropic Float DLC (Letters To A Beloved Ghost) and make sure that you get to see your favorite characters again, as well as a few pieces of official Entropic Float Merch available on my etsy store.  There are stickers of the full cast, keychains of the protagonists and antagonist, and pin buttons of each standard ending- But if there's a particular piece of merchandise you'd want to see, feel free to contact me and let me know. Entropic Float: Letters To A Beloved Ghost As mentioned above, there's a survey to influence this DLC's content, but that...

Entropic Float 2 Demo And Kickstarter Launch!

Picture a point-and-click adventure game. Now picture a branching, time-looping ontological mystery visual novel. Entropic Float 2 combines those into its gameplay concept: A point-and-click where you can never solve every puzzle at once. Where you have one key that fits two locks... And the only way to see what's behind the lock you didn't choose is to die, repeat the day, and try something different this time. With only you and your protagonist aware of the loop, seek an answer that earns new information. Through trial and error, solutions and murder... Can you find the way through this new Anomaly? In early 2021, I started working on a project just for fun. Using the character creator and scene assembly tools of Illusion's Koikatsu, paired with the visual novel engine ren'py, I decided to learn to make a VN. A year and a half, over three hundred thousand words, and quite a bit of pocket money later, I released 'Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear...
