Entropic Float Biweekly Update #9

NaNoWriMo is over, and I'm back to usual updates! Next update I've decided to delay to January 2nd, just skipping over the holiday weekend altogether. I should have a lot to share in that update, so I'd really rather not give a haphazard mini update while visiting family, instead sharing a proper update a week late. So what all have I gotten done since last time? It's been a bit of an adjustment now that I work full time, but I've still made notable progress~ Writing: 34/54 segments written! That's four more segments done than last time, but worry not, it's nearly six. I have the majority of both endings of the Kanatsun Night Route written, I just need to fill in some gaps before I can consider either of those segments completed. Depending on how much time I end up having after this blog post, we might just jump from 34 segments to 36 segments before the day is spent. The route's just about done! Talksprites: I've added one talksprite for Rashmi. Tho...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #8 (Mini)

Hello again! It’s time for the second of the two November mini-updates. December may also end up with a mini-update thrown in there depending on how busy my holidays end up being, but other than that, I’ll be going back to the normal formula soon. While traveling, I did contribute a few short fics to my nanowrimo word count. Two of them were things I’d been meaning to write in a private fictional universe between myself and a few friends, but one was a crossover fanfiction where Shinji meets Heart Fragment’s Kay Jamison, available here on my ao3. Besides that, I was able to write 5 more segments; The entire rest of the Kanatsun Noon Route, both endings. I’ve also started the Kanatsun Night Route, but I haven’t quite completed the first segment yet, so I can’t count it. This brings the full count of common route segments up to 30/54. We’re more than halfway there now! With any luck, I’ll be able to keep this up and release the game on schedule. Behind the scenes, I’ve also been able to ...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #7 (Mini)

As I said last time, my November Updates are on the smaller side compared to the usual ones since I want to focus on writing! Here's my progress so far. To move that out of the realm of nebulous wordcounts, I'm currently at 25 segments completed out of 54 segments in the common routes. I'm nearly halfway there! 7 of those segments come from NaNo so far, representing both endings of Kanatsun's morning route and the beginning of the noon route. That's right, Kanatsun's morning route is totally completed! Even if it turns out I don't manage to finish NaNo (It's been something of a struggle so far, as you can see!) I'm pleased to have finished writing one of the routes in record time. I've also made enough progress at this point that I can finally estimate a release date!  It's looking like the game should be completed sometime in May or June. To give myself room for setbacks, I'll be setting my release date at July Ninth, 2022! Don't q...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #6

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! Here we have some lovely themed art of Shinji by Tree Dorothy on Skeb ! This update, I have a few pieces of exciting news! The first is unrelated to the game development itself, but I've recently gotten a new job that should give me more opportunity to work on Entropic Float each weekend. The second, much more relevant update is that I've officially partnered with Starfield Gaming , the developer of Heart Fragment ! While we've already been working together for some time now, Entropic Float will now officially be releasing as a Starfield title when the time comes! And if you're looking forward to that day, I'd definitely recommend giving Heart Fragment a shot in the meantime. It's a Psychological Otome Game that, as of the time of writing this update, has two fully completable routes (with more on the way!) and is 50% off of its usual price, only five dollars for quite a bit of content- And the art is prettier than Entrop...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #5

This update's got a bit more going for it than the last one- And I totally passed my certification exam, too! I'm now an AAPC CPC-A, which means nothing to anyone reading this, but I'm still telling you.  Writing: Writing's been going well! I've written three segments over the past two weeks; The second puzzle room of Amelie's night route, and both of its endings. This marks the completion of the Amelie routes, which clock in at 58,000 words total. I'm a third of the way through the common routes! Just two more of these... And then the True End, of course. Still a ways to go, but progress is undeniably being made! Talksprites: As I approach writing the Kanatsun Routes, I realized that he was in need of a couple new talksprites. 'Ponder' and 'Panic' were emotions he needed and was lacking. Below is the first of those two. I also tweaked Abel's talksprites by making them a little bit smaller, as his positioning onscreen felt awkward in comp...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #4

This update's going to be a small one- As I said last time, I had busy weekends. I was away from home last weekend, and I took a certification exam this weekend... By the time you hear from me again I'll know if I passed it. I also had a migraine so severe that the urgent care doctor told me not to go to work for several days. So you can imagine I didn't get much done on this game either. Writing: I did still write one new segment though. The intermediary between the two puzzle rooms on Amelie's night route, which happens to be the ballroom I mentioned last week. Talksprites: No change since last update. Voice Acting: Since last update, Abel was cast as Ms. Latrice "Dunique" Young, and I received those lines. Now nobody remains uncast, and I'm only waiting for the lines for Amelie, True, JJ, and Touko! Background Images: No change since last update. Background Music: I haven't created any new tracks. I've added 3 tracks from the royalty free Incomp...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #3

These past two weeks have been busy for me! I went to a convention, Deltarune chapter 2 released. Uh. That's it. But anyway, since I more or less only make substantial progress on days that I don't have to go anywhere, and I only had three of those, one of which I filled with playing other video games because that is a weakness of all gamedevs... I made exactly as much progress as I expected to make since last time. Writing: In the last update, I said I would write two more segments before the next update. And I did! Amelie's nighttime route has got its introductory section and its first puzzle room and that's it. But this does bring us to 14 segments out of 54 total, and crosses the threshold into being a quarter of the way done with the writing! The time I spend writing has sped up quite a bit as well as I've gotten used to the style of calling and hiding sprites along with the lines. Talksprites: No change since last update. Voice Acting: No change since last upd...
