Entropic Float Biweekly Update #13

Lucky number Thirteen. The art this week was commissioned from Mikoko on skeb!

Doesn't she look lovely and peaceful here? It's been a character trait of Stephanie for a long time that she has an 'unnatural beauty'. Seriously, I made the very first version of her character a whole decade ago! She's hardly the same character at all anymore, but if I showed you early art of her, you'd definitely recognize her visual design.

The Rashmi Night Route has some promising scenes in store for Stephanie, too, so we're back to featuring art that suits the progress.

Without further ado, here's what that progress is!

Writing:

49/54 segments. I only ended up writing one... Well, more like one and a half. I just wasn't going to be able to finish writing that first puzzle room today and still have the time to write this update! Luckily, writing wasn't my focus this development cycle anyway, and I bet I'll more than make up for it in the next two weeks.

Talksprites:

No change since last time.

Voice Acting:

Since last time I received lines for Touko and for JJ! True is the only one left, and due to his appearance in Heart Fragment, those delays have a bit to do with me, not just the VA. So we're in great shape!

Background Music:

I did add a new track this time! Wow! It's called Work The Game! Here it is!

My goal progress from last time:
- Add one more music track. For real this time. I did this! You can see it above!
-Begin setting up steamworks and itch.io Partially done! I set up itch but not Steamworks because it intimidates me more.
-Write 2 Segments of the Rashmi Night Route I wrote one of them! So also partially done!
-Spruce up a few pieces of the GUI I did this, you can see screenshots at the bottom of the post!
-Draw that last hand-drawn CG that was on my list... Yeah, this is done!
-And also draw the 3 new pieces of art I roped myself into making for a puzzle room. I drew the art but I have yet to implement!

My goals for next time:
- Write 5 segments of the Rashmi Night Route
- Develop an outline to track progress of the True End
- Implement fixes to the Kanatsun Routes as found by my beta testers

Only the first goal is really priority- The other two can easily be pushed to the beginning of March if I need extra time, hopefully joining a goal of packing the Rashmi Routes for beta at that time.

As for what I accomplished outside of my usual categories, that's most of what I did this cycle! I drew some important art, which I'll leave off the post. I implemented the Starfield Gaming splash screen. But what I can show you right now are the buttons I made for the character profiles screen, and the chibi indicators which will, when you're on a normal route, display at all times which characters are present, in a different room, or dead.

Until next time!

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float in 2023: An Update!

Happy New Year, everybody!                                                                     It's 2023  and I have a lot of plans! I'll start out by offering reminders that there's a survey to influence the contents of the Entropic Float DLC (Letters To A Beloved Ghost) and make sure that you get to see your favorite characters again, as well as a few pieces of official Entropic Float Merch available on my etsy store.  There are stickers of the full cast, keychains of the protagonists and antagonist, and pin buttons of each standard ending- But if there's a particular piece of merchandise you'd want to see, feel free to contact me and let me know. Entropic Float: Letters To A Beloved Ghost As mentioned above, there's a survey to influence this DLC's content, but that...

Entropic Float 2 Demo And Kickstarter Launch!

Picture a point-and-click adventure game. Now picture a branching, time-looping ontological mystery visual novel. Entropic Float 2 combines those into its gameplay concept: A point-and-click where you can never solve every puzzle at once. Where you have one key that fits two locks... And the only way to see what's behind the lock you didn't choose is to die, repeat the day, and try something different this time. With only you and your protagonist aware of the loop, seek an answer that earns new information. Through trial and error, solutions and murder... Can you find the way through this new Anomaly? In early 2021, I started working on a project just for fun. Using the character creator and scene assembly tools of Illusion's Koikatsu, paired with the visual novel engine ren'py, I decided to learn to make a VN. A year and a half, over three hundred thousand words, and quite a bit of pocket money later, I released 'Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear...
