Entropic Float Biweekly Update #17

This update's art is from Mada on skeb! A cute little chibi of Rashmi to brighten up your day. As far as the characters in Entropic Float go, Rashmi is probably the most evident of my own character design sensibilities. Short fluffy hair, oversized jackets... Something about that combination, I'm a big fan of it! And oh boy, do I hate how often characters have 'future designs' or 'makeovers' that take perfectly nice fluffy hair and turn it into a straight bob.

Anyway, now you know that about me! Let's get into something that matters; My work on the game these past two weeks.

Writing:

Let's get counting...
15/31 standard segments. I wrote eight more, rocketing my numbers up to nearly halfway in the standard category! I'm pretty pleased with this progress, since the standard sections represent more work than the Memory Seeking ones in regards to programming.
23/36 Memory Seeking segments. Six since the last update~ It could've been more, but I spent some time I'd normally spend on these segments drawing instead.
We're now sitting at 38/74 segments of the Miracle Route. We've squeaked just past halfway in this overall section too!

Voice Acting:

I've received the voice lines for True Whitman, bringing us to 100% on necessary lines! I still need to implement them, but the voice acting category is now officially finished. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

Background Music:

No change since last time

My goal progress from last time:
-Write 7 Standard Segments, completing two different puzzle room sets. Done! I wrote 8
-Write at least 6 Memory Seeking Segments Done!
-Create the third batch of new assets for the Miracle Route Done!
-Create the fourth batch of new assets for the Miracle Route Done!

My goals for next time:
-Write 3 Standard Segments, completing the last puzzle rooms of the Miracle Route
-Write 11 Memory Seeking Segments
-Create the fifth batch of new assets for the Miracle Route
-Implement the Ending Badges I've been gradually drawing over the past few weeks

I wrote 14 segments and made 2 batches of assets this past development cycle, which is pretty solid! I have 3 full development cycles left, and this is how I plan to divide them;
4/11 - 4/24
4/25 - 5/15 - The weekend of the 6th, I'll be away for my birthday, and probably won't be able to get much done. Turning this into a 3 week development cycle also lets the third remaining cycle go right up to the end of May.
5/16 - 5/29

With 3 cycles left and 36 segments remaining to write, my necessary segments-per-cycle has gone down to an even 12. However, you might notice that my goal for this upcoming cycle is 14. This is because when I write memory seeking, I like to cleanly finish all of the memory seeking segments for a given character at once. One less character's worth of memory seeking would give me only 11 segments in the cycle. I could hit my goal evenly by writing 8 Memory Seeking segments and 4 Standard Segments, but one of the two weekends this cycle won't be too amenable to writing Standard Segments, so I'd rather overbalance the other way.

Fingers crossed that my logic is sound; Until next time! I'll leave you with this image of what a given scene in Entropic Float looks like before I pose all the models.

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #12

Time for Update Twelve. The art this week was commissioned from  Niina on skeb! Not the most relevant image this time, since Peri doesn't actually appear in any of the Rashmi routes... But she's adorable, so don't hold it against me, okay? You also shouldn't hold it against me because, for all but the first two days after my previous update, I've had covid. Omicron's infectivity really is off the charts, and I'm a fragile person, so of course I had loads of symptoms. Nothing serious in the end, thanks to my triple vaccine, and my brainfog's cleared up over the past few days, so I still have some progress to share! Writing: 48/54 segments... That's right, despite spending most of my time sick, working from home during moments of clarity and playing video games during moments of utter fog... I actually wrote the entire Rashmi Noon Route. A big chunk of that was immediately following the last update, but I still doubled my goal of three segments... S...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #6

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! Here we have some lovely themed art of Shinji by Tree Dorothy on Skeb ! This update, I have a few pieces of exciting news! The first is unrelated to the game development itself, but I've recently gotten a new job that should give me more opportunity to work on Entropic Float each weekend. The second, much more relevant update is that I've officially partnered with Starfield Gaming , the developer of Heart Fragment ! While we've already been working together for some time now, Entropic Float will now officially be releasing as a Starfield title when the time comes! And if you're looking forward to that day, I'd definitely recommend giving Heart Fragment a shot in the meantime. It's a Psychological Otome Game that, as of the time of writing this update, has two fully completable routes (with more on the way!) and is 50% off of its usual price, only five dollars for quite a bit of content- And the art is prettier than Entrop...
