Entropic Float Biweekly Update #18

This update's art is from Hirabi on skeb! Jazz is lovely, isn't she? An individual with a sense of performance! She may be an academic, but that doesn't mean the world can't be a stage for her. When you play the game, I think you may end up being surprised by her- I know I was when I was writing!

And speaking of writing, let's get right into the progress this cycle...

Writing:

18/31 standard segments. As expected, only three of these this week thanks to some other circumstances- But this still takes us past the halfway point in this category!
34/36 Memory Seeking segments. Eleven since last time, and only two of these left to go! Just in time for the NVL-styled standard segments to start being written when I'm away from my desk, too.
We're now at 52/74 segments of the Miracle Route. Just 22 segments left to write before I can get the miracle route to my beta testers!

Background Music:

I've added four new OST tracks from musical artists on skeb. These can be found in the OST playlist  and include 'Dream Of A Dear One', 'The Girl In The Back Of Your Mind', and 'Lifelong Echo' by Enokido, as well as 'The Mortifying Ordeal Of Being' by Kosade Yokai. As for where these songs will appear in-game, you'll just have to wait and see.

My goal progress from last time:
-Write 3 Standard Segments, completing the last puzzle rooms of the Miracle Route Done!
-Write 11 Memory Seeking Segments Done!
-Create the fifth batch of new assets for the Miracle Route Done!
-Implement the Ending Badges I've been gradually drawing over the past few weeks Not done! I decided to wait on this as the implementation is something which can be done in June while the game is with my beta testers.

My goals for next time:
-Write 9 standard segments. 5 of ADL style and all 4 of NVL flashback style, completing the entire 'Memory Seeking Finale' section of the game
-Write the last 2 memory seeking segments
-Create the 3 sets of assets needed for the Memory Seeking Finale section
-Take some time aside from development to make some marketing materials needed for Connecticon

Just like last cycle, I wrote 14 segments this time and was able to bring my requirements down again. Now in the two remaining cycles, I only need to write 11 segments each! So my goal for this upcoming 3-week-cycle with my birthday trip smack dab in the middle of it is only 11 for now, and then the goal for the last cycle before my beta-build target will be the four remaining standard segments and the seven epilogue segments. Of course, I might start writing those epilogues ahead of time if I get through all the NVL segments I have on the list for this cycle... We'll see!

As for those marketing materials, it's just business cards and a banner for the convention table, so I doubt it will take that long to do. I just want to make sure that I can order it in time! It will be really exciting to be able to share Starfield Gaming's hard work at a convention table.

Just as an update, the wordcount's currently at 233,871... And I haven't actually implemented any of the 11 memory seeking segments I wrote this cycle yet, so that number doesn't even reflect how much is written. Compare that to the 174,000 words I had before starting the miracle route... Clearly, I've been working very hard to have already added 60,000 words to the total! And it'll all be so worth it when you all finally get to play the game~

Maybe not the most exciting update, but I'm happy to be moving at such a fast clip towards to completion! Until next time!

Entropic Float 2: Character Reveal and Kickstarter Date!

Entropic Float 2... Characters! They're here! The video above shares some songs to help you get the feel on their personalities- And their profiles are available too! I've also been hard at work to get the demo ready before the Kickstarter, which I've decided to launch on 11/11/2023 ! Below, you can see the first talksprite for good ol' Kanatsune Ame. To temper expectations a bit- The demo will only cover the beginning of the game. The 'exposition loop', if you will. Several of these characters won't be appearing yet, and certain loop-related features will, well, not exist because there is no second loop to implement them on. It should, however, give you an idea of what the story's going to be, and how the main point-and-click gameplay will work. Just enough of a taster to let you know that EF2 is worth getting made! And I mean... Even if the Kickstarter fails, I'll make it anyway. It just might take me a good bit longer, and might miss out on some...

Entropic Float in 2023: An Update!

Happy New Year, everybody!                                                                     It's 2023  and I have a lot of plans! I'll start out by offering reminders that there's a survey to influence the contents of the Entropic Float DLC (Letters To A Beloved Ghost) and make sure that you get to see your favorite characters again, as well as a few pieces of official Entropic Float Merch available on my etsy store.  There are stickers of the full cast, keychains of the protagonists and antagonist, and pin buttons of each standard ending- But if there's a particular piece of merchandise you'd want to see, feel free to contact me and let me know. Entropic Float: Letters To A Beloved Ghost As mentioned above, there's a survey to influence this DLC's content, but that...

Entropic Float 2 Demo And Kickstarter Launch!

Picture a point-and-click adventure game. Now picture a branching, time-looping ontological mystery visual novel. Entropic Float 2 combines those into its gameplay concept: A point-and-click where you can never solve every puzzle at once. Where you have one key that fits two locks... And the only way to see what's behind the lock you didn't choose is to die, repeat the day, and try something different this time. With only you and your protagonist aware of the loop, seek an answer that earns new information. Through trial and error, solutions and murder... Can you find the way through this new Anomaly? In early 2021, I started working on a project just for fun. Using the character creator and scene assembly tools of Illusion's Koikatsu, paired with the visual novel engine ren'py, I decided to learn to make a VN. A year and a half, over three hundred thousand words, and quite a bit of pocket money later, I released 'Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear...
