Entropic Float Biweekly Update #6

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate! Here we have some lovely themed art of Shinji by Tree Dorothy on Skeb ! This update, I have a few pieces of exciting news! The first is unrelated to the game development itself, but I've recently gotten a new job that should give me more opportunity to work on Entropic Float each weekend. The second, much more relevant update is that I've officially partnered with Starfield Gaming , the developer of Heart Fragment ! While we've already been working together for some time now, Entropic Float will now officially be releasing as a Starfield title when the time comes! And if you're looking forward to that day, I'd definitely recommend giving Heart Fragment a shot in the meantime. It's a Psychological Otome Game that, as of the time of writing this update, has two fully completable routes (with more on the way!) and is 50% off of its usual price, only five dollars for quite a bit of content- And the art is prettier than Entrop...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #5

This update's got a bit more going for it than the last one- And I totally passed my certification exam, too! I'm now an AAPC CPC-A, which means nothing to anyone reading this, but I'm still telling you.  Writing: Writing's been going well! I've written three segments over the past two weeks; The second puzzle room of Amelie's night route, and both of its endings. This marks the completion of the Amelie routes, which clock in at 58,000 words total. I'm a third of the way through the common routes! Just two more of these... And then the True End, of course. Still a ways to go, but progress is undeniably being made! Talksprites: As I approach writing the Kanatsun Routes, I realized that he was in need of a couple new talksprites. 'Ponder' and 'Panic' were emotions he needed and was lacking. Below is the first of those two. I also tweaked Abel's talksprites by making them a little bit smaller, as his positioning onscreen felt awkward in comp...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #4

This update's going to be a small one- As I said last time, I had busy weekends. I was away from home last weekend, and I took a certification exam this weekend... By the time you hear from me again I'll know if I passed it. I also had a migraine so severe that the urgent care doctor told me not to go to work for several days. So you can imagine I didn't get much done on this game either. Writing: I did still write one new segment though. The intermediary between the two puzzle rooms on Amelie's night route, which happens to be the ballroom I mentioned last week. Talksprites: No change since last update. Voice Acting: Since last update, Abel was cast as Ms. Latrice "Dunique" Young, and I received those lines. Now nobody remains uncast, and I'm only waiting for the lines for Amelie, True, JJ, and Touko! Background Images: No change since last update. Background Music: I haven't created any new tracks. I've added 3 tracks from the royalty free Incomp...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #3

These past two weeks have been busy for me! I went to a convention, Deltarune chapter 2 released. Uh. That's it. But anyway, since I more or less only make substantial progress on days that I don't have to go anywhere, and I only had three of those, one of which I filled with playing other video games because that is a weakness of all gamedevs... I made exactly as much progress as I expected to make since last time. Writing: In the last update, I said I would write two more segments before the next update. And I did! Amelie's nighttime route has got its introductory section and its first puzzle room and that's it. But this does bring us to 14 segments out of 54 total, and crosses the threshold into being a quarter of the way done with the writing! The time I spend writing has sped up quite a bit as well as I've gotten used to the style of calling and hiding sprites along with the lines. Talksprites: No change since last update. Voice Acting: No change since last upd...

Entropic Float Biweekly Update #2

Hi guys! Since the last update, I've made good progress! I'll share it in the same format as last time, breaking down how much work I've done on each category. Writing: Since last time I've written three segments- The last shared segment and both endings for Amelie's noon route!  That's right, the second of nine routes is completed. And I'll be starting the next one right away! Talksprites: I've now made the full talksprite sets for JJ, Stephanie, and Abel! I wouldn't consider my talksprite progress to be 100% just yet, since I know I'm going to need a few here and there for specific situations, but as far as the main sets go, this is complete! Voice Acting: Since the last update I received lines for Madeline, and recorded my own lines for Kanatsun! Amelie, True, JJ, and Touko have all been cast, and I am waiting to receive lines. Abel has still not been cast yet. Background Images: I've finished making the rec room puzzle! Here's one of...

Entropic Float Biweekly Dev Update #1

Hello hello!  Nico H here with the first of many biweekly updates on the development and creation of Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear! I hope to update here every other Sunday, starting from today forward. Being the first update, pretty much everything I've done so far is 'new', so rather than make an excessively long post about all of the details so far, I'm just going to share some progress reports so everyone can see where I'm at as a baseline before I start sharing more in future updates! Writing: The writing of the game is going smoothly! Out of 54 'segments' required in the base routes, I've written 9 of them so far. I'm not counting the True Route segments, as I'm unsure as of yet how many there will be. I'll track that stat when I get to it! These 9 segments so far represent one complete route and half of another. For my internal tracking purposes, each route has 4 shared segments and one segment for each ending! B...

First Post: About Entropic Float!

Entropic Float: This World Will Decay And Disappear. Entropic Float is a visual novel regarding the experiences of fourteen people who've been trapped inside a magical construct known as the Anomalous Clocktower. Missing memories of how they came to be there, certain aspects of their past life, and of course, every loop but the current one, can those who awakened inside the anomaly find a way out? Step into the shoes of Rashmi Jamil, Kanatsun, and Amelie Macon at different times of day as you seek a resolution. In each loop, you'll also be challenged to make the right decisions to overcome Entropy, in the hopes that the protagonists' memories might make it through to another version of themselves if the loop doesn't end in tragedy. Game Details Entropic Float is currently in actively development, and I'll be doing my best to make biweekly development posts on this site up to and following the game's release. This game is a Visual Novel created using the Ren...
